Smoothie Slimdown: Cinnamon Apple Smoothie

This week’s blog post is something I don’t do often…making drinks! I have a fun trip to Vegas coming up and it’s about time I shape up before I ship out, so I had smoothies on the brain. And this Cinnamon Apple Smoothie was the winner.

There are SO many smoothie recipes out there. And really it’s not like there’s an exact recipe to follow. But I do love to start with a general guide, and this smoothie only had 4 ingredients! On occasion, I will have a smoothie and they are usually berry-filled, but I wanted to do something different this time around.

All you need for this drink is an apple, a handful of spinach, almond milk, and cinnamon. I mean, how easy is that?! I went with my favorite apple, the Pink Lady variety. And apples are great for fending off Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, and cancer, plus it curbs weight gain and much more. And I am a big fan of almond milk. I put it in my cereal and even cook and bake with it and it’s lower in sugar and higher in calcium. Spinach is a great addition to a smoothie as it doesn’t have an overpowering flavor and it’s great for your skin & hair and overall health.  Plus cinnamon is really good for you in fighting diabetes AND it’s delicious! So overall, what’s not to love about the health benefits of this treat!

Okay so I am still getting into the smoothie-loving mindset. I like food way too much to feel any other way. But I was impressed. I actually drank the whole thing and it filled me up! The key with this is to blend it really well so that it isn’t super grainy from the apple. This smoothie will be making a recurring appearance in my kitchen for several days.
