Holy moly, the end of September is here already! And as I reflect back on the month, I’m reminded of what’s truly important in this life. Not to get cheesy or anything, but this year it’s becoming clear to me the importance of connections in life. So as I share this blogging roundup for September, I’m also getting slightly vulnerable here.
If you read my blogging roundups each month, which I hope you do, then you know I reflect a lot. And this month I found myself being open more than I thought possible in years, and that’s amazing. I’ve been dating my boyfriend for almost two months, and that’s kind of a big deal for me. That’s only because calling someone my boyfriend doesn’t come easily, so finally I’m allowing myself to be a little vulnerable. Trust me, the thick ass walls I’ve built over the past many years are very real.
So yay for me actually cooking for someone and just having fun and living in the moment! I’m not sure why cooking for somebody is such a sacred thing for me, but cooking embodies my happy place so perhaps that explains it.
Another thing I’ve found is critical this month is being prepared and organized. This quality is not something I’m naturally great at, and my planner is a huge help to me. I’m sharing below my favorite planner and giving you a chance to win a FREE one for yourself! #YoureWelcome
I’ve also not eaten as healthy on the daily as I usually do this month, so I’ve learned to be kind to myself. I could really beat myself up about it, but instead I’ve lived in the moment, been thankful for indulgences in life, and tried to balance it out more with healthy snacks, breakfasts, and lots of water.
Now onto this month’s blogging roundup, and I’m pretty psyched about all of the awesome info I’m sharing. My September recipes include 2 appetizers and 2 main dishes, a lot of spice, dairy free and gluten free recipes, and they taste amazing!
And this month’s weekly crushes (or Wednesday sharefests) are packed with fabulous content. From a cookbook that I’m drooling over (that’s healthy!) to a HUGE recipe roundup for you, to sharing about my favorite planner, September overflows with helpful info.
So let’s dive into the September Blogging Roundup Already, Shall we?!
September’s Recipe Blogging Roundup:
Appetizers:
I find the fact that I made these Spicy Asian Wings kinda funny, because I’m not a huge wings fan. It’s not something I’m ever craving or ever order unless I’m at a wings restaurant. Yet with it being football season, I felt so called to create a wings recipe. Oh holy smokes, I’m glad I did, because this one is insanely delicious! Spicy, sweet, baked, and finger-licking good!
This Spicy Kale Artichoke Dip came from the cookbook I featured this month, so check that out below. It’s actually a gluten free and dairy free dip, and pretty damn healthy too! I put my own spin on it by adding some extra spice, but if you love spinach and artichoke dip, you’ll never know this is dairy free! I might be slightly obsessed with this recipe, so I bet you will be too. Plus it’s perfect for watching your favorite sports games, for a party when you need a dip, or just to enjoy on movie night.
Main Dishes:
As I searched Pinterest lately, I found Mexican Street Corn to be a huge trend. And while that sounded fabulous, I really wanted to make a meal out of it rather than just a side. And Mexican Street Corn Shrimp Pasta was born, and it’s actually something you can cook a lot in advance. So that helps make the recipe come together even faster, which I love. Oh and this meal is really, really good with spice and tons of texture and flavors, so please make it.
Sometimes you just want seriously good, healthy recipes, so I created this Butternut Squash Chicken Quinoa Bowl. I wanted lots of healthy components with tons of flavor all in a big bowl that was guilt-free. Roasting the squash, adding the quinoa, cooked chicken, plus dried cranberries, pepitas, and a bright lime and basil vinaigrette makes for something really special. So for all of you wanting to eat well and get on track, this recipe is a perfect way to do that!
September’s Weekly Crush Blogging Roundup:
Cookbook Love:
Obsessed pretty much sums up my feelings about The Laura Lea Balanced Cookbook. Laura Lea Goldberg was new to me, but I discovered her on Amazon and found myself intrigued by her cookbook. Her aim revolves around creating healthy meals that are flavorful, balanced, and generally guilt-free. As this year progressed, I’ve found myself feeling really aligned with those principles, so I’m re-visiting this book regularly.
Get Ready for Game Day:
I absolutely love sports and I adore cooking, so finding recipes to cook for a day of football or tailgating sounded so fun. My 40 Ultimate Game Day Recipes roundup is packed with recipes to inspire us when we need (or want) something delicious to munch on to watch the game. You definitely need to check it out and do some pinning, because you’ll be referencing it a lot, I’m sure. I know I will!
