You know when you find a place to eat and after a few times of visiting it, you have your favorite meal there? Well that was me way back in my college days with a favorite sweet treat. There was this place called Shakey’s (RIP-Shakey’s) that served tons of varieties of ice creams and concretes (you know ice cream with your favorite candies mixed into it?). Well my favorite concrete was this Oatmeal Cookie Dough flavor…It was heaven. After Shakey’s closed, I never thought I’d find that flavor again until this Skinny Oatmeal Cookie Smoothie came into my life.
I know, it sounds dramatic, but all these years later I still pine for that Oatmeal Cookie Dough concrete. (And I know my sister does too.) But with this smoothie recipe, suddenly I get all of the flavors of that concrete with none of the guilt! I found this recipe from Pinterest on the site Gimme Some Oven…don’t you just love that name?!
Seriously. I’m so excited about this smoothie. I love when you can not only make a healthy smoothie to snack on but when it makes you remember one of your favorite times, it’s a major win!
So let’s talk about what is in this Skinny Oatmeal Cookie Smoothie, because odds are good you have everything (or nearly everything) already on hand. I know I did. You’ll first blend some old-fashioned oats until they’re finely ground. Then just add a frozen banana, almond milk, honey, vanilla extract, salt, cinnamon, ground ginger, and freshly grated nutmeg to the blender. Turn it on and blend until the smoothie is totally smooth and enjoy!
