The Silpat…It’s Seriously Amazing

The last two weeks’ recommendations have been awesome products that I use daily, but they’ve also been a bit on the pricey side.  This week I wanted to focus on something that is not very expensive that I feel like I can’t live without.  With it being an extremely cold winter, I keep thinking about baking which brings to mind one of my favorite baking items. It’s time to highlight the Silpat, which is a non-stick baking mat that has proved to be extremely useful to me over the years.

Silpat

I’ve already used this product several times during my culinary adventures, as you can see in many of my photos on the Recipes page. Although I get nothing out of recommending the Silpat, I’ve made mention during my cooking posts that if you enjoy cooking and baking and don’t have one, you should get one…Stat!  Here are some of my favorite uses for this awesome product:

1. Baking cookies
2. Roasting Vegetables
3. Baking potatoes
4. Baking crescent rolls or similar delights
5. Placing on a cookie sheet under a casserole dish in the oven to prevent bubbling over messes.

The best part is that I am constantly finding new ways to use it. I am not exaggerating when I say that nothing sticks to it.  The mat also cools very quickly, and with a quick rinse in the sink, it makes for really easy cleanup.

The Silpat can be purchased at most retailers (like Target, Bed, Bath & Beyond, Macy’s, etc.) and is typically about $19.99 for the standard size. You can find the Silpat in several shapes and sizes, which is highlighted on Silpat’s website. If you already have one, let me know if you find any other great uses for it! Happy baking!
