Appreciating the Small Things (Like My New Juicer!)

I think it’s important to celebrate the little things in life as much as the big things at times. When thinking of a product I love that I would blog about, one silly, little thing kept coming to mind.

It’s my hand-held juicer for juicing lemons and limes. I’ve never had one before and have always juiced everything by squeezing the lemon half, picking out the seeds and getting the kitchen really messy in the process. Recently I purchased this hand-held juicer (cute, right?!) and it has made me actually look forward to those recipes that need some lemon juice or lime juice. I used to dread that part of the cooking process, because it was messy…not anymore!

Yes, I realize that it’s a silly thing to recommend because juicing a lemon or lime is not difficult. But it’s not silly if you are like me and you cook a lot and try to avoid making a huge mess, especially since I know I’ll be scrubbing every nearby surface that gets sticky from the rogue drops of juice. I also felt that I got more juice out of a lemon or lime than I would by squeezing it by hand when using my new juicer, so nothing is going to waste!

Plus I got this juicer at Target for less than $10 and it has a smaller section for lime halves and a larger one for lemon halves. This juicer also traps the seeds to prevent them from making their way into my food…it’s worth the 10 bucks just for that.

I always want to recommend big and small things that I think will make your life easier/happier (at least they do for me), and this juicer would make any home cook’s life easier and their kitchen a lot cleaner! What’s your favorite little kitchen item that makes you happy? Happy Cooking!
