(This Spicy Hot Cocoa is perfection on a chilly night, but if you want a warm alcoholic drink, try this one!)
Step by Step Instructions:
Spicy Hot Cocoa comes together really quickly, so here’s what you’ll need (most of it): Vanilla, Almond Milk, Coconut Milk (I used a lite kind), Cacao Powder (different than cocoa powder as it’s healthier), Cinnamon, Cayenne, Salt, and Marshmallows.
I forgot about adding Ghee, Maple Syrup, and liquid Stevia to my Spicy Hot Cocoa, so here you go!
Now measure out the milk, which starts with 1 cup of coconut milk.
Then knowing how big my mug was, I added enough water to fill it up. I love a big mug, so I added enough almond milk to get to 14 ounces.
In a small saucepan start melting about 1 T. of ghee over medium heat.
Then add a heaping teaspoon of cacao powder.
Whisk the cacao into the ghee so you get a chance to cook it a bit.
Then add the milk and whisk really well.
Now add 1 T. maple syrup, 1/2 t. of cinnamon, 1/8 t. cayenne, pinch of salt and 4 drops of liquid stevia.
Then whisk really well and bring the Spicy Hot Cocoa to a light boil. Reduce the heat to a simmer, and stir the Spicy Hot Cocoa regularly. Give it 3 minutes or so and then serve right away topped with marshmallows. You can also add a dusting of cacao powder or grate a little dark chocolate over the top to send it over the top! Then enjoy!
