Step by Step Instructions:
This Apple Cranberry Sauce recipe is definitely worth making, because it couldn’t be easier, and it will make your house smell like the holidays. Also it adds a bit of sweetness, while it’s still a tart dish. Plus it tastes absolutely delicious. Here’s what you’ll need: Cinnamon, 12 ounces of fresh Cranberries, Salt, 1 cup of Granny Smith Apples (peeled and diced), and 1 cup of Sugar.
Start off by adding 3/4 cup of water, 1 cup of sugar, 1/4 teaspoon of salt and 1/4 teaspoon of cinnamon to a medium saucepan, and turn the heat to medium.
Bring the mixture to a boil, while stirring regularly until the sugar has dissolved.
Once the sugar is dissolved, add the apples and cranberries to the saucepan.
Simmer the mixture and stir every 2-3 minutes, and about 10 minutes later the sauce should have thickened a bit and the cranberries will have started to pop open.
Once the sauce is cooked, remove it from the heat.
Transfer the sauce to a bowl and let it cool to room temperature. This will take about an hour or so. Once it’s cooled, you can eat it right away. You can also make this recipe in advance, and then just cover with plastic wrap (pressing the plastic to touch the surface of the sauce to keep a skin from forming) and then refrigerate up to 2 days.
- ¾ cup of Water
- 1 cup of Sugar
- ¼ teaspoon Salt
- ¼ teaspoon Ground Cinnamon
- 12 ounces of fresh Cranberries, washed with soft cranberries removed
- 1 cup of Granny Smith apples, peeled and diced into bite-sized pieces
- Start off by washing your cranberries, and remove any soft ones you find. Then peel a Granny Smith apple and dice into bite-sized pieces. You’ll want about a cup, which should be 1-2 apples.
- In a medium-sized sauce pan, bring the water, sugar, salt, and cinnamon to a boil, and stir regularly until the sugar has dissolved.
- Then add the cranberries and apples to the pan and simmer for about 10 minutes stirring every 2-3 minutes. The cranberries should start popping open, and the sauce will thicken a bit.
- Finally remove the sauce from the heat, and transfer to a dish to cool in. Allow the apple cranberry sauce to cool to room temperature, which will take about an hour. Enjoy the cranberry sauce once the sauce comes to room temperature.
