Cooking Must-Have: Vanilla Bean Paste

Vanilla bean paste…say what?! Yes, it’s a must have. If you like sweets and love to cook and bake them, then vanilla bean paste needs to be in your cabinet.

Baking is one of my favorite stress-relieving activities. And well, eating sweets isn’t so bad either. So why is vanilla bean paste so very important to have? This is because it’s used in place of vanilla extract, and how often do you use vanilla in baking? A lot!

Two reasons why I really like baking with vanilla bean paste. First off, you know how if you accidentally get a taste of vanilla extract it just tastes gross? Well vanilla bean paste isn’t like that. Which makes me feel better about cooking with it. If it tastes good out of the bottle, then it’s gonna taste delicious in my food…at least that’s my theory!

Second reason is that there are little flecks of vanilla bean in the paste, which lets you know it’s the real deal. So when you’re baking with it, often you’re going to see little bits of vanilla in the end product. How cool is that?!

I’ve been using this little treasure for a long time now, so I can’t even remember where I first heard about it. Probably from my mom, honestly. She’s my cooking guru and loves sharing cool little tricks and food… ’tis why we get along so well!

So where might one pick up some vanilla bean paste? Well I find myself going to Amazon most often, but I’m betting specialty food stores might just have some on hand too. Just trust a girl, okay. I think you’ll really love the stuff too! Happy baking!!
