Step by Step Instructions:
Very few ingredients are needed to pull this dish together: Brown Sugar, Old-Fashioned Oats, Wheat Germ, Salt, a Banana, Brown Sugar, and Butter (Not pictured).
Below you will find the full recipe for 3 servings. If you’re like me and only want to make this for one, I’ll give you those amounts now. I began by putting 1 1/4 cups water in a small sauce pan. To the water, I added 1/3 cup of old-fashioned oats.
Then, using a 2/3 cup measuring cup, I poured in the wheat germ filling the measuring cup approximately 1/3 full. This doesn’t have to be perfect, so if you add a little more, you will still come out with a delicious dish.
To the water and oats, I added the measured wheat germ and a pinch of salt. I stirred the ingredients about and heated the sauce pan to medium-high heat.
Once the mixture comes to a boil, reduce the heat to medium low (I put it on a setting of 3).
Cook, stirring pretty constantly over medium low heat for 6 minutes. It should have gotten fairly thick.
Transfer the oats mixture to your serving dish – I just use a large cereal bowl.
I used a tiny sliver of butter to control the fat content and broke it up with my fingers so that bits of butter were all over the top of the oats. The butter begins to melt immediately.
As soon as the butter is on the oats, I sliced one banana over the top of the oats and then I crumbled about 1 teaspoon of brown sugar over the top, which begins to melt deliciously!! You could use more brown sugar if you’d like. The recipe calls for 1 Tablespoon per serving. This dish is seriously a cinch to make is is such a delicious and heartwarming meal…you won’t want to miss it!! I hope you enjoy!
