It’s time for this week’s recommendation and I’ve been trying to think of the perfect thing. I’ve been doing a ton of walking lately and always listen to music when I do, which got me to thinking about my favorite music.
Whenever I try to think of my favorite album there is one that always ends up at the top of my list: Ryan Adams’ Gold. This has to be my favorite. (Yes, even over the Footloose album, for all of you out there that know me really well!)
I remember hearing Gold the first time in college in 2001 when my sister let me borrow the CD from her…I’m not sure I ever returned it, come to think of it…sorry, Megan! 🙂 With its folk-y, blues-y feel that demands the volume to be turned up, it’s a collection of songs that has truly grown with me, and I keep it on my regular rotation. Plus it was a great album to blast in my headphones as I wrote college papers (along with Robbie Williams’ “The Ego Has Landed”).
The classic “New York, New York” along with “Firecracker”, “La Cienega Just Smiled”, and “Rescue Blues” are just a few of the great songs that Ryan Adams sings. I’m confident that there is not one single song on the album that is ever worth skipping.
If you’re not familiar with this album or Ryan Adams in general, then go check out some of his stuff. I’m a huge fan and continue to love everything he puts out. I have a feeling you won’t regret it and may just get hooked like I did! Happy Listening!!
