Looking for a book recommendation? I’ve got one for you! Suzanne Collins’ The Hunger Games trilogy, nuff said. It’s so good, and as I made my way through the three books, I literally could not put my Kindle down.
I read the series in about a week’s time (silly full-time job got in the way of my reading), and I have to admit that I was sad when it was over…I wanted the story to continue. Here’s a quick description of the story from Goodreads (I LOVE Goodreads):
In the ruins of a place once known as North America lies the nation of Panem, a shining Capitol surrounded by twelve outlying districts. The Capitol is harsh and cruel and keeps the districts in line by forcing them all to send one boy and one girl between the ages of twelve and eighteen to participate in the annual Hunger Games, a fight to the death on live TV.
…the description continues, but you get an idea of the world that the author creates. The characters are strong, tough, and easy to get invested in. Plus there is a ton of action and it’s a really interesting and unique plot. While the story is written for a young adult audience, I feel that it’s geared towards a more mature reader due to the violent content…just a warning.
So if you’re looking for a good story to pass away the winter days, check this series out. They are easy to get into, very quick reads, and a great way to spend a snowy winter day. I hope you enjoy them as much as I did!
