If you love cranberries, then this version of cranberry sauce with apples will make you even happier! Tart but a little sweeter, it's a perfect addition to the holiday menu!
Recipe type: Side
Serves: 4-6 servings
Ingredients
  • ¾ cup of Water
  • 1 cup of Sugar
  • ¼ teaspoon Salt
  • ¼ teaspoon Ground Cinnamon
  • 12 ounces of fresh Cranberries, washed with soft cranberries removed
  • 1 cup of Granny Smith apples, peeled and diced into bite-sized pieces
Preparation Instructions
  1. Start off by washing your cranberries, and remove any soft ones you find. Then peel a Granny Smith apple and dice into bite-sized pieces. You’ll want about a cup, which should be 1-2 apples.
  2. In a medium-sized sauce pan, bring the water, sugar, salt, and cinnamon to a boil, and stir regularly until the sugar has dissolved.
  3. Then add the cranberries and apples to the pan and simmer for about 10 minutes stirring every 2-3 minutes. The cranberries should start popping open, and the sauce will thicken a bit.
  4. Finally remove the sauce from the heat, and transfer to a dish to cool in. Allow the apple cranberry sauce to cool to room temperature, which will take about an hour. Enjoy the cranberry sauce once the sauce comes to room temperature.
Notes
You can make the recipe ahead of time, let it cool to room temperature, cover with plastic wrap allowing the wrap to touch the surface of the sauce to prevent it from forming a skin. Then Pop the cooled cranberry sauce in the fridge and it’ll be ready for you to enjoy!
